The Clarity Deferral Matrix

Direct answers are dangerous. They create accountability, shorten meetings, and may cause the buyer to understand the product.

Step 1: Never say the thing

Dashboard? No. “Decision surface.”

Spreadsheet? No. “Operational substrate.”

Basic scraping? Absolutely not. “Digital Ore™ extraction.”

Oh right. The CSV has entered its sovereign era.

Step 2: Draw two axes

If the room gets quiet, draw a quadrant. Label one axis “intent density” and the other “execution liquidity.” Nobody will ask what it means because everybody is trying to keep their job.

This is how beige software survives: not by being useful, but by making skepticism socially expensive.

Bezos: write the memo clearly.
